In a rapidly urbanizing region of Southeast Asia, millions of tonnes of MSW were overwhelming landfills, polluting soil and groundwater. The journey wasn't without hurdles. The region's MSW is a complex mix of plastics, textiles, food waste, and metals, posing significant challenges to processing efficiency. To meet the facility’s stringent requirements for output size and throughput, Harden's team went beyond standard solutions.
Through extensive on-site testing, they tailored equipment parameters and upgraded critical components like shredders and screens, ensuring the RDF matches coal’s performance and transforms “negative-value” waste into a high-value energy source.
At the core of this success is Harden’s innovative RDF preparation technology—a precision-driven “waste-to-energy pipeline.” The process begins with fine shredding to break down bulky waste into uniform particles.
Next, the screening process separates materials by size, removing oversized impurities. Windshifters then isolate lightweight combustibles from heavy inerts, while magnetic separators extract metals with pinpoint accuracy.
The result? High-value combustibles are processed into RDF particles with sizes of several tens of millimeters, optimized for efficient and stable combustion.
“Tailoring solutions to local waste characteristics is the key to turning trash into treasure,” said a Harden engineer, capturing the project's essence.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Harden customized its waste processing equipment—shredders, screens, and windshifters—to match the region’s unique waste profile, ensuring seamless operation and scalability.
